They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, and that is certainly true when attempting to pass on knowledge relating to software etc. I have always made as much use of screenshots as I can on my blog, but even so the amount of information that can be conveyed is limited. I have decided to try something new, and have created my first video demo.
For this first video I am covering a topic that I have blogged on before, but rather than having to break it down in to a number of articles as I have done in the past, I have created a video that covers the topic from front to back. This topic covers the use of different types of package configurations to allow packages to be deployed to different environments (live, test, development, etc) and have their connection managers automatically updated at run time.
The delivery and editing is a little raw, but I don't thing it is a bad first attempt. I hope that you find this useful.

AuthorI am a BI Consultant almost 20 years experience in the Finance, Logistics and Direct Marketing sectors. Whilst my career has centred primarily around the SQL Server stack, I firmly believe that no tool is right in all situations, and added Python to my toolkit several years ago to do the things that SQL can't. I believe in automation where practical, and specialise in the creation of metadata driven ETL frameworks. Archives
